Business records are an excellent resource for researchers interested in local industry, employment and people.
What records can I find at Denbighshire Archives?
Denbighshire Archives holds deposited collections of many solicitors and businesses in Denbighshire including-

There are many smaller business-related records in our vast collections of minor deposits (i.e. collections prefixed by DD/DM). You can search for an individual business or person using the online catalogue at the top of this page.
Please note that many of our lists of minor deposits haven’t been added to the full online catalogue yet but you may find reference to smaller businesses in the online indexes including name and wills indexes. The online indexes are a brief list of some of our collections rather than a full catalogue.
What types of records are included?
Business records can contain the following types of records
- financial records including ledgers, cash books, journals and day books
- minute books of meetings of boards or shareholders
- annual reports
- correspondence files and letter books
- drawings, maps and plans
- publicity material such as photographs, posters and brochures
- staff records
However, most collections will only incorporate a selection of these types of documentation.
Solicitors records consist of administrative records of the solicitors office itself and papers of their clients (i.e. information relating to local people, estates and property) including
- deeds and other property records
- wills and testamentary papers
- legal case papers
- personal papers
- business records
What language were the records written?
The majority of these records are in English. It is our policy to catalogue the records in the language in which they are written.

You can view these records in our searchroom. None of our business or solicitor collections are available to view online. Book a place in the searchroom today.
What records can I find in other archives and organisations?
The National Archives holds some records for dissolved companies which were incorporated by registration.
